Texas Hold Em How To Play
Texas hold em is probably one of the best types of poker to learn for someone that is new to the world of card betting games, with easy rules and card combinations it is simple to catch on to and with a few hours practice people find that they can start playing almost from the get go. Although it is a good idea to play quite a bit to start of with, just to get used to the game and understand the rules fully.
Here is an introduction on how to play the game:
Starting out participants will post blinds or antes to get the game going. This is when one of the player placing a small bet, depending on the limit of the game, called a blind. Starting on the dealers left side, the first player will place a small blind, the second better will place a larger blind. These bets are of course mandatory to get the game up and running and the blinds will enter into the end investment pot. If there are more players at the table after the first to blinds have been placed, they can then match the blinds or fold before the game starts.
Once the first bets have been placed, the dealer will then shuffle a standard 52 card deck and deal two “hold cards” or “pocket cards”, these are two private cards for each gamer that are placed face down when playing. When everyone has been dealt their cards, the player who is situated on the left side of the blinds will then place a new bet called a preflop.
The other players then have the option to call, raise or fold the bet at this stage of the game. Once the betting round is finished, the dealer will discard the bum card, the top card of the deck to avoid any cheating in the game.
The game then enters into the next round which is known as the flop. The dealer will then place three cards facing upwards on the table for all of the players to use in different combinations with their own two private cards to form their poker hand. Once again, the player on the dealers left side will start a new betting round, after all the bets have been placed, the dealer will then make the “turn”.
This consists of burning another card, again, to avoid cheats and then placing another card on the table. The player to the dealers left will start a new betting round, normally, this is where the stakes will begin to rise and the game will become more interesting.
The game then enters the next round, the “river”. The dealer will place the final card face up on the table and players can now use these cards and their own private two to make their five card combinations for a poker hand. The players would then have one final chance to place their bets before the game ends.
Once bets have been completed the game may enter into a “showdown” for those players that remain in the game and wish to “show” or “turn” their cards. Once all of the cards have been shown, the player with the strongest poker combination wins the game of course. In the case of a tie, the players will split the winnings.
